The Best Man asked me to be his date at his friend’s wedding in Boerne, TX. Where?? Exactly! I’ve never been to a wedding so this would be my first wedding experience. I was super stoked! Like many women, I do have my wedding Pinterest board and have thought about my wedding day since I was a little girl.
The venue was on a huge piece of land far from city life. Longhorns rested under trees and horses roamed free. There were outdoor sitting areas for guests to relax and take in the view. Quite a site! The owners had renovated a huge chicken house to become the main function area. Wood wreaths hung on white barn doors that led into the ceremony and reception area which were separated by garage doors that moved up and down.
Couches with decorative pillows and blankets circled a fireplace, and the cocktail area contained games such as ring toss, horseshoes and bean bag toss. White benches were placed in front of a brown arch decorated with flowers and big, green beautiful trees filled the space behind the arch.
The wedding party looked amazing as the bridesmaids walked in their flower covered dresses and the groomsmen in their gray suits with matching flower ties. The groom wore a navy-blue suit and the bride, escorted by her Father, walked down in a delicate cream-colored fitted dress. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s brother who switched from English to Spanish to accommodate both families.
During the ceremony, the Maid of Honor and the Best Man each read a poem to the couple about the love they had witnessed develop between the two love birds. The couple then planted a tree to represent how their love would keep growing and tied a knot to end the ceremony. The newlyweds preceded to take pictures after the ceremony while guests were invited to cocktail hour and encouraged to play games.
The DJ introduced the bridesmaids, groomsmen and the newly wedded couple to kick off dinner. The dessert tables were set up creatively and everything tasted amazing! The tables consisted of a tiramisu cake with strawberry filling, 5 stacks of donuts with different glazes, and a s’mores table with graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows.
Overall, it was a whimsical evening with a fairy like feel. The bride and groom were floating on clouds, happier than ever, and I loved sharing in their special day.
